Daniel Buoniconti is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Commonwealth Scholar and cum laude (B.B.A. 1995). Thereafter he attended Hofstra University School of Law (J.D. 1998), where he received the Outstanding Leadership Award from the University's Center for Public Service. He was admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in December of 1998; the State of New York in March of 1999; the District of Columbia in May of 2000; and the State of New Hampshire in February of 2006. Attorney Buoniconti is also admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit; United States District Court, District of Massachusetts; United States District Court in the Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York; and United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire.
Mr. Buoniconti has consistently received an AV Preeminent Rating, the highest rating for Ethical Standards and Professional Excellence from the international rating directory, Martindale-Hubbell. He is also listed in Best Lawyers in America, Boston Magazine, and New England Super Lawyers as one of Massachusetts' Super Lawyer Attorneys.
Mr. Buoniconti successfully argued before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in Leavitt v. Brockton Hospital, et al., 454 Mass. 37, 907 N.E.2d 213 (2009), which is a leading case limiting the potential liability of medical providers to non-patient third parties, holding that generally medical providers have no duty to detain or control their patients.
Prior to joining Foster & Eldridge, he practiced at a small Park Avenue litigation firm in New York. He has contributed to two published articles concerning civil practice procedure. He is a frequent lecturer on medical-legal issues and health care law for Continuing Medical Education Risk-Management Programs.
Mr. Buoniconti formerly served on the Board of Directors of Bridge Over Troubled Waters, including as Chairman of the Board. The organization’s mission is to transform the lives of homeless and at-risk youth by providing services ranging from emergency housing and runaway services to longer-term housing, counseling, education, and vocational services.
